{"id":508,"date":"2012-01-06T09:00:27","date_gmt":"2012-01-06T09:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pingler.com\/blog\/?p=508"},"modified":"2014-08-19T17:39:39","modified_gmt":"2014-08-19T17:39:39","slug":"do-you-know-how-many-authority-backlinks-your-competition-has","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pingler.com\/blog\/do-you-know-how-many-authority-backlinks-your-competition-has\/","title":{"rendered":"Do You Know How Many Authority Backlinks Your Competition Has?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5775\" src=\"https:\/\/pingler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/11561989_s-300x282.jpg\" alt=\"Competition Backlinks \" width=\"300\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pingler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/11561989_s-300x282.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pingler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/11561989_s.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Authority backlinks are links to a website site that come from high authority websites.\u00a0 These websites are not only sites that have a high page rank but can also be renowned directories.\u00a0 One of the main parts of an SEO strategy should be backlinking which involves getting a link to your website posted on another website.\u00a0 This can be done in a variety of ways including through blog commenting, guest posting and paid advertising.\u00a0 The higher the authority of the website that links to you, the more \u201clink juice\u201d your website will receive.\u00a0 This is why it is a good idea to know how many authority backlinks you have\u2026 and of course how many your competition has.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Checking Your Number of Authority Backlinks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It can be incredibly difficult to work out how many websites are linking to your website, and even harder to tell how many of the links you have come from high authority sites unless you use specific pieces of software.\u00a0 On our tools page we have an <a href=\"http:\/\/pingler.com\/seo-tools\/authority-link-checker\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Authority Link Checker Tool<\/a> which is easy to use and will tell you the amount of high authority backlinks your website has within seconds.\u00a0 By inputting a website address our Authority Link Checker Tool you will be able to tell how many government and education sites link to the website as well as if the website has any links in the DMOZ or Yahoo directories.\u00a0 We will explain the importance of these sites below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>.edu and .gov Backlinks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>.edu and .gov backlinks are said to be two of the best links you can receive from an SEO point of view.\u00a0 Although Google hasn\u2019t actually said that more authority is given to these links, it is widely believed that it is, plus the majority of .edu and .gov websites also have a high page rank which is clearly a plus.\u00a0 There are a variety of ways to go about getting links from these websites \u2013 we mentioned a few in an article which you can find by <a href=\"http:\/\/pingler.com\/blog\/how-to-get-gov-backlinks-for-your-website-or-blog\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">clicking here<\/a>.\u00a0 If the Authority Link Checker tool shows you that your competition has a variety of backlinks from .edu or .gov sites it is a good idea to visit these sites individually and see if you can come up with a similar link building strategy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DMOZ and the Yahoo! Directory Backlinks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DMOZ and the Yahoo!
