How can a commander ensure an attack is lawful if a machine&#8217;s behaviour cannot be reliably predicted? Who investigates when an autonomous system makes a fatal mistake?<\/p>\n<p class=\"w6asjq_TextBase _85PZeG_Text\" data-d-component=\"text\">The United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross have called for international rules governing autonomous weapons, including restrictions and prohibitions on certain systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"w6asjq_TextBase _85PZeG_Text\" data-d-component=\"text\">Effective safeguards are essential. Human beings must retain meaningful control over decisions involving lethal force.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"w6asjq_TextBase GgxHUa_Title\" data-d-component=\"title\" data-d-size=\"lg\" data-d-weight=\"semibold\">Conclusion: The Future Is Our Choice<\/h2>\n<p class=\"w6asjq_TextBase _85PZeG_Text\" data-d-component=\"text\">AI-powered military robots could transform warfare.
